Talent Contest

The Brown County Free Fair holds a local talent contest every year at the county fair. This year it will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in the climate-controlled Civic Center on the fairgrounds.

Participants compete in one of three divisions:

Preteen Division is open to contestants age 12 and under only.
Teen Division is open to contestants ages 13 through 18 only.
Open Division is open to any contestant, regardless of age.

Cash awards are presented by the Brown County Free Fair:

First place in each division: $100
Second place in each division: $50
Third place in each division: $25

First place winner in each division qualifies for the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest held during the State Fair.

Entry fee for each act is just $10. Participants must reside in one of the following Minnesota counties: Brown, Blue Earth, Cottonwood, Nicollet, Redwood, Renville, Sibley, or Watonwan. If more than one person is involved in the act, at least 50% of the participants must reside in these counties.

The public is invited to come and enjoy the talents of our local citizens. There’s no admission charge to be a part of the audience, however, we do ask for donations to help cover the cost of the contest.

More information is available in the Forms section of this website, under “Talent Contest – State Fair Rules” and “Talent Contest Application Form.”
